Burnout

According to Psychology Today, burnout is “a state of chronic stress that leads to physical and emotional exhaustion, cynicism and detachment, feelings of ineffectiveness and lack of accomplishment”. Although remote work is often touted as making people happier and more productive, it is also a very easy situation for people to burn out.

At Human Made we have had numerous cases of individuals burning out. There have been a variety of reasons for it happening, but the symptoms and results are almost always the same. It’s important that as a company we take it seriously, speak up when we see it in ourselves and others, and feel able to have frank and open conversations about it.
